It’s back to school time and more important than ever to have a designated spot in your home for kids to do their homework. Here are a few tips to create a well organized, comfortable and functional homework station:

1. Find a quiet place in the house. We recommend a nook in a low traffic room where there is less noise.  It could be their bedroom, the basement, a music room or bonus room. Avoid the kitchen which is usually full of distraction and noise.  

2. Use a desk or table with enough space to spread out.

3. Use drawer organizers or turntables to organize supplies like pencils & pens, colored pencils and rulers. A basket or tray helps to contain loose papers.

4. Provide a comfortable chair to sit in.  

5. Make sure it’s as clutter free and visually pleasing as possible.

6. Purchase a timer that they can set to work for 20 minutes.  When the time is up they can take a break, grab a snack and move around.  We love this visual timer.
