Not every pantry is in need of a total overhaul, but many can still improve in functionality and style following some simple tips. We had the pleasure of working on a pantry already in great shape, but it’s now next level thanks to a few quick fixes! The result is a more polished and finished look, which in this case, matches the rest of the gorgeous home. Also a huge thank you to Carissa @thebohoblonde, for giving us free rein to move things around and add some finishing touches to her stylish and beautiful space; which we think can best be described as comfortable yet sophisticated, boho glam!
Here are some tips to prettying your pantry:
First, downsize! This will not only free up space, but also often makes it possible to create more distinct categories. Get rid of anything expired, and donate what you aren’t going to use.
Organize items by type. For example, baking, condiments, breakfast, etc; but you can get more detailed depending on your individual needs (think “taco night” or “s’mores”).
Decide what will function best in the pantry versus another cabinet or drawer. For this project we were able to find sensible alternative homes for some items, like vitamins and paper plates.
Add turntables and/or expandable shelf risers so you can easily see access everything.
Add stylish baskets. Or in this case, add even more! They don’t all have to be the exact same style either, but be intentional about the look you are going for.
Label. Even if it seems obvious, trust us this makes a world of difference in keeping a space in order. And don’t forget to keep the labeling consistent for cohesiveness.
Make space for displaying stylish items; like a vase or serving dish. Don’t cramp, be mindful about giving things room to breathe!
Use canisters or jars to store things like pasta, flour, coffee, etc. This adds some interest and texture to your space. And this isn’t limited to the pantry, open shelving and counters are often a great way to display your kitchen staples.
Have fun and enjoy your stylish and functional pantry!
